Adaptation to Change

Something I noticed as a SFU student is that being in such a big university is quite intimidating and scary at the beginning. But, I would recommend being open minded and trying our best to meet new people and interact with others. That is why I usually attend many events and club activities which allows me to meet new people from all over the world!

One of the nicest experiences you get is being recognized in the hallway by someone you know and then spend hours talking about how your day was. I believe that it is something that makes you feel more supported and allows you to think that you can rely on your friends for whatever you need.

Even though high school seemed to be very different we need to remember that life gets better and that we just have to keep pushing through to reach our goals. University can be a great experience if we have the support system that we need and are able to leave our comfort zone. Sometimes change is all we need to succeed.

As an international student, being far away from home is very scary and confusing. But we don’t have to let our fears define us and we have to prove ourselves that we are capable of reaching great things. In addition, meeting new people allowed me to understand different points of views and see how each culture is different from another. Therefore, I learned to be even more connected to my culture and be proud of my background. It is amazing to see how diverse each classroom is and how we all are trying our best to reach our goals. I hope that everything goes well and that we get to find the positive side of each new experience or challenge we might face.
