This week I’ll be summarizing the “Do You Expect Bad Things To Happen?” episode from The Mindset Mentor with Rob Dial.
Even when things are going well, have you ever felt like you cannot really enjoy the moment because you’re afraid of something bad happening eventually? I know I have.
Rob Dial, the owner of The Coaching Academy and host of The Mindset Mentor, delves into this common problem. He said that this feeling comes from the reasoning that “good luck will run out” but that’s not necessarily true! He emphasizes that if, for example, there are three things happening in your life, and you categorize one of them as “bad” this categorization is stemming from your perception. Here’s a different way to think about that: what if it’s not bad, but simply a redirection?
He also spoke about a very interesting metaphor of a bow and arrow: you have to pull the arrow back to make it go forward, and that’s how life goes sometimes. Here’s an interesting thing to note, the further back you pull the arrow, the faster it will go forward!
Overall, Rob encourages us to think about a “step back” as a way to be prepared for the next venture we’ll be stepping into.
