The internet is a blessing and a curse in disguise.
It’s a blessing because, well, it literally runs the fucking world. Everyone’s “connected.” Online. And…addicted? Addicted.
Observable fact #1: it takes one second to log off.
Observable fact #2: we rarely do.
So how do we stop?
“We need to start seeing the internet as merely a place we visit, rather than a place we allow to define and shape our thoughts, our physiological responses, and our beliefs in totality.” — Rosie Spinks via. Forge
The internet as a place we visit.
Like a travel destination. A place of temporary stay.
Say you’re in Hawaii, and you’ve got two weeks before heading home becomes a necessity. A normal person would spend that time enjoying themselves, relaxing, and having fun — but only for two weeks. On the other hand, a madman would say, “screw it, I’m staying the year.”
On the internet, are you a normal person or a madman?
Start seeing the internet as a place you visit, one in which you don’t overstay. Because remember, the internet is open 24/7. You can always come back. Healthy internet usage is about having your fun and learning when to GTFO.
