So guess what!
I discovered this trick to make waking up in the morning so much less anxiety-inducing. All you have to do is switch up your alarm tone to something more pleasing than… well you know, alarm sirens.
Or at least to something more gradual. That’s the key.
I use nature ambiance, so like forest sounds and bird chirping noises.
And it’s SO MUCH BETTER.
Frankly, if I can avoid my alarm clock screaming at me, I will. It’s added stress none of us need. I recommend trying it.
You won’t jolt awake ever again (probably? no guarantees, but I highly doubt it).
And you’ll wake up in a more calm and level-headed state.
Other options you can try:
- A song that motivates you if music is what gets you fired up
- The local traffic station—this was my go-to in high school (talking humans are unexpectedly soothing)
here’s how to do this:
- Find a soothing soundtrack. I use this one. You can find plenty on YouTube.
- Use a YouTube to mp3 downloader to download the video as an audio file.
- Transfer the mp3 to your phone.
- Set your alarm sound as the mp3 you transferred.
- Wait for the morning to experience the magical sensation of starting the day slow, as opposed to at full speed ahead.
(P.S. I know smartphone clock apps have these playful tunes and all, but most of them are still not gradual-y enough and honestly too obnoxiously happy and upbeat—especially for the morning.)
