On Doing the Important Things: When You Feel Lost, Distracted, or Stuck, Ask Yourself These 4 Questions

1 — What is important?, then 2 — Am I doing what is important?

3 — What is not important?, and, critically, 4 — Am I avoiding what isn’t important?

So. I’ve been having a go at these questions recently. Silently in my head. They’re simple questions. Simple questions with simple answers.

Am I doing what is important? Am I avoiding what isn’t important? It’s yes or no.

  • YES 😎: Wow, nice job mate. Good on you. Keep it up.
  • No… 😶: Why? Time to reflect. What should I stop doing and what should I start doing? Where do I go from here?

It’s a simple life audit. An awareness exercise, if you will.
